Threshing – To move violently

Valhalla – a palace in which heroes killed in battle were believed to feast with Odin for eternity palace in which heroes killed in battle were believed to feast with Odin for eternity (oxford Dictionary)

Overlord-  a ruler of something.

Interpretation:

The song is about Nordic imperialism. I think that since it was a song it did not have very much of a message to tell people other than explaining Nordic imperialism and their beliefs through the Norse point of view.

Critical Analysis:

It is probably biased, but since it is only a song, there isn’t much information to bias. The song is about how the Nordic people went to the new world and what they believed in. Since it is a song, it only tells about their goals when heading west and such.

V. Text Connection:

It connects to the text and imperialism because it shows the point of view of the people who are imperializing the territories. It shows that they are going there because of their beleifs and also in one part of the song it says “we are your overlords”. Which may show some point of view of the imperialists. It links into things fall apart because that is what the British did to Africa.
